It's been a bit of a quiet week, this week: I've been mostly locked away in a room with 11 of my peers as I do my up standing citizen's duty as a Jury Member for the next couple of weeks. Dom and I did visit Blissfield's recording studio in deep and dark West London to record a podcast to talk about Echaskech's forthcoming appearance at their festival. I'm not too sure when it'll be aired but if I find out, I'll let you know. Here's this week's...

It's been a great week for Back To Mine. I finished off building the new deck area so we have a new oustide space to play tunes, dance and chill together, and we were also joined by two new resident selectors: Second Life electronica genius and resident alien, from Albany, NY: Transient Zeluco and new to Second Life, from Ontario, Canada: Alexian Jupiter. Both will be enriching the Mine with their music collections and not only that, long time BTM resident and long time Second Life DJing partner of mine, Sagesse Sautereau came back to play some excellent tunes after me on Friday.
A slightly shorter show this week, due to some technical difficulties with our router and setting up the stream, and sadly there's a bit of distortion on the recording, which I didn't notice until right of the end of the set - you might want to take some bass off when listening to it. I hope it doesn't distract too much from the recording. The opening track - the new
Despite Linden Labs best effort to trying to stop us, the show must go on. :) Massive thanks to those who battled through the Second Life login difficulties to show their beautifully rezzed faces at the Mine and special thanks to those who sneeked in through the back door and listened in. :)
This one's for me. :) I finally reached 42 years old this week and, as you can see in the picture above, found the meaning of life, only for it to escape my grasp and fly away. All I remember is it's got something to do with Hot Dogs, Sunflowers and RS232 ports... .aaaaanyway, here's what I played:
It was an emotional day. Maldor Mayne, one of the original shining lights behind Back To Mine (and someone who guided me through the early stages of my Second Life existence) , has decided to take a break from Second Life and today was his last day. So, as I state at the beginning of this show, this one's for you, Mal. We're all going to miss you.
Here's my latest random selection of tunage, as played at Back To Mine, in Shoki, Second Life. I do urge everyone I know to buy the new Telefon Tel Aviv LP "Immolate Yourself" and the Animal Collective's "Merriweather Post Pavillion" as both these releases will enrich your lives. Oh and with much thanks to Dom, I'm now podcasting this so you can stay up to date that way too. Anyway. hope you like the show. :)

A rather sad week for music, with the deaths of John Martyn and Charles Cooper (Telefon Tel Aviv) being announced, so it seemed only right to feature just some of their excellent contributions to music on this weeks show.

I finally managed to get down to it and sum up some of the great music that has made 2008 great for me and it's mostly LPs, which I suppose is a change in itself, as for the last 14 years of DJing my music purchases have been mostly made up of singles, but moving on to buying CDs and having an emusic subscription has changed that. Anyway - on with the list (it's not in order, but the best is saved to the last):

Ok, Ok I'm a sad
Mitch Mitchell, the drummer with The Jimi Hendrix Experience died on the Wednesday this week so, to commemorate that (and the fact that Heaven has a fantastic three piece up there now) we had a Jimi Hendrix session at Back To Mine on Friday.
